Scientists are still on the track of why humans yawn, and to add further interest, there are now many studies on which animals yawn and why they do so. If you’ve ever owned a fish, a reptile, a cat or a dog, or even a rat, you may have noticed these animals yawn. In fact most animals yawn, but it’s probably not because they’re bored or sleepy.

Hamsters are mammals that belong to the rodent family having large incisor teeth that are continually growing necessitating gnawing to prevent the teeth from overgrowing.

The name hamster is derived from the German verb hamstern, which means “to hoard” because hamsters have expandable cheek pouches lined with fur to store their food. The word hamstern itself comes from earlier hamustro, from choměstrǔ, which is either a blend of the root of Russian khomiak “hamster” and a Baltic word “staras” or of Persian origin hamaēstar “.
Hamsters make good beginner pets, as they are fairly easy to care for. They often have docile temperaments and have relatively clean habits. They are delightful to watch as they go about their daily housekeeping, food storing and exercise on their wheel. Hamsters live a life that involves the simple pleasures of eating, sleeping, washing and running.
